French River Rapids - Revisited

When we were living in Atikokan I had the opportunity to retrace the foot steps of painter Paul Kane. This is a section of the French River rapids in Quetico park where Paul Kane produced his painting in 1845. It was quite a thrill to walk on the trail that has been used for hundreds of years.

This was a fun painting to do. I had the opportunity to work on site during the construction of the Biomass Conversion in Atikokan, Ontario and because I like to paint the world around me, this was one of the results.

While working in Atikokan I was able to get to this spot quite a few times and knew that I wanted to paint it. It is located very close to town and easy to get to.
