Newpost Falls

The Newpost Falls are on the newpost river in northern Ontario about 2 hours northwest of the Abitibi Canyon. This is just the top of these falls, it is about a 100' drop. It was something to see especially when I wasn't sure if there were any bear or moose around. I hope to do more paintings of the trip I made there, took tons of photos. I am hoping to get there again this summer.

This is the painting I was working on when the photo of me was taken. It is just below the log chute looking down stream. In the spring the place where I was able to set up is under water.

This is one of the paintings I was able to do on site at the Hawk Lake log chute. It is about a 5 minute walk down river from the chute, then looking up river. A nice place, even had a bench to park all of my painting gear.

This is me painting on site this past fall. I live in such a beautiful area it is hard to chose where to go to paint. I went with another painter, Karen Sloan (she snapped the picture). We had a great day and I was able to do 2 paintings that day.

Spillway on the Matagmi River

I spent most of the past summer in northern Ontario and this is one of the places I visited. It is near the hydro dams on the Matagami River north of Kapuskasing.

I worked this painting up from a photo that was taken one evening when my husband and I were fishing. (I don't think we caught any thing) The sunsets on the lake where our cottage is are great. The fishing isn't bad either.

This is a painting of the ravine behind our house. It was one of those days when it felt like spring was just around the corner. I grabbed the camera and went out to get some shots. I like to paint the contrast between the ground and the snow.
